At least once
If the rule applies, the item is in the cart at least once, even if there is no matching product. If you do not want that, include the products in the rule, for instance with Item in dynamic product group.
Linking the quantity to products in the cart
Without further settings an item is added exactly once. When linked, its quantity follows certain products: one wrap per piece, one surcharge per bulky cart line.
What is counted.
On the Quantity tab you switch on Link quantity to products and choose which products count: individual products, dynamic product groups or tags, or all of them together.
- Variants count through their parent product. If the parent is selected, each of its variants counts.
- Products configured with Custom Products count as the product they are based on.
- For tags, the plugin checks the tags of the products in the cart.

Per piece or per position.
The multiplier decides how counting works. Per piece counts the quantity of matching products, per position the number of matching cart lines, however many pieces they hold.
On the right the same cart, both times with the bulky goods group: two sofas and one table are bulky, the cushions are not.

Not with percentages
A percentage surcharge is always added exactly once. The quantity fields are locked in that case.
The limit caps the quantity
With Maximum purchase per customer the quantity is reduced to what the customer is still entitled to. If nothing is left, the item is not added.

Fixed amount
Gross or net with its own tax rate, negative a discount.
Free of charge
A line for €0.00, as a pseudo product or as a real product.
