Why this condition
The subtotal of goods only counts products. The fee is not goods, so it does not raise the subtotal and cannot switch off its own rule.
Jonas sells screws, wall plugs and fittings. An order of €8.90 takes almost as much packing as one of €89.00. Instead of turning small orders away, the plugin adds a small order fee of €5.00 to the cart below €50.00 of goods. From €50.00 it disappears on its own.
On the left the rule in the Rule Builder, on the right the item's fields that matter. Everything else stays as it is when you create the item.

Note (blue) · Always
Below €50.00 of goods we charge a small order fee of €5.00.
At €18.80 the goods value is below €50.00, so €5.00 is added. If the customer adds angle brackets for €31.20, it is exactly €50.00, and the fee is gone at the next recalculation.

Below €50.00 of goods we charge a small order fee of €5.00.
Subtotal€23.80
The threshold is €50.00 of goods. What counts is the subtotal of goods, without shipping, discounts and fees.
| Cart | Goods value | Small order fee | Subtotal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Screws and wall plugs | €18.80 | €5.00 | €23.80 |
| Just below the threshold | €49.90 | €5.00 | €54.90 |
| Exactly at the threshold | €50.00 | – | €50.00 |
| With a €5.00 voucher | €52.00 | – | €47.00 |
| Customer with net prices | €42.00 net | €4.20 net | €46.20 net |
The voucher lowers the amount to pay, not the subtotal of goods. For customers with net prices the rule compares the net value, and the fee is added at €4.20 net.
The subtotal of goods only counts products. The fee is not goods, so it does not raise the subtotal and cannot switch off its own rule.
The Cart total (incl. shipping) also counts shipping and the fee. €46.00 of goods plus €4.90 shipping is already above €50.00 there, although the goods value is below it.
A fee the customer could click away would not be a fee. Without a cross it stays until the goods value reaches the threshold, and the note says why.
What to watch out for: An empty cart gets no fee, although €0.00 is below the threshold: the plugin only adds items to carts that already contain something.
With the plugin you set a threshold below which a fee is added: the rule gets the Subtotal of goods condition with Is less than and your minimum order value, the item gets a fixed amount. Customers can still order below the value, just with the small order fee.
No. The condition only counts goods; discounts and vouchers stay out. Someone who orders €52.00 of goods and redeems a €5.00 voucher pays €47.00 and no small order fee.
To the prices the customer sees. With gross prices the rule compares the gross value; for a customer group with net prices, the net value. The fee follows suit: €5.00 gross or €4.20 net plus tax.
Yes, with one item per tier, each with its own rule: €7.50 at "Subtotal of goods (excl. discounts/fees)" Is less than €25.00, €5.00 at Is greater than / equal to €25.00 and Is less than €50.00. If the ranges overlap, both fees are added.
Yes. Create a second item whose rule combines Customer group Is one of Retailer with the subtotal, for instance below €100.00. The rule for consumers gets Customer group Is none of Retailer, so only one of them applies.
The tax rate you choose on the item. For a fixed amount it is required; without it the item cannot be saved. If you set the fee as a percentage instead, the tax is split proportionally across the tax rates in the cart.
Yes. Instead of the subtotal, use the "Total product quantity (units)" condition, for instance Is less than 3. That condition also counts products only, not the fee itself.
If product A, B or C is in the cart, the delivery goes to Austria or Switzerland and the customer is a retailer.
For deliveries to certain countries the shop pays part of the shipping costs.
A discount for payment in advance, a fee for cash on delivery: one item per payment method.
A surcharge per bulky product when delivery is by freight.
A real product from the catalogue that retailers get once, with their first order.
Once the goods total reaches €50.00, a catalogue product is added free of charge.
A magazine or a sample that the customer can see and remove.
In Advent, one gift wrap per product in the cart, which the customer can remove.
Below €50.00 of goods, €5.00 is added; from €50.00 the fee disappears on its own.
A deposit per bottle and per crate as lines of their own, the quantity follows the drinks in the cart.
If the delivery address is on an island, a surcharge is added, recognised by the postcode.
Percentage, fixed amount, free of charge or a product: the four types every example is built from.
