Why one amount per crate
The quantity counts products in the cart, not the bottles inside them. A crate is one product, so its deposit item covers the crate and the bottles together.
Svenja delivers drinks in her area and sells them through her shop. Every crate carries the deposit for the crate and its bottles, every single-use bottle the single-use deposit. The plugin adds a line of its own to the cart for each deposit amount, and its quantity follows the drinks.
On the left the rule in the Rule Builder, on the right the item's fields that matter. Everything else stays as it is when you create the item.

Three drinks, three deposit amounts: two crates of pilsner at €3.10 each, one crate of water at €3.30 and four bottles of iced tea at €0.25 each. If a third crate of pilsner is added, that line shows €9.30.

Each deposit amount is an item of its own with a tag of its own. Its quantity is the number of products carrying that tag in the cart.
| Item | Tag | Per piece | Quantity | Deposit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Deposit crate 20 × 0.5 l | Deposit 3.10 | €3.10 | 2 | €6.20 |
| Deposit crate 12 × 0.7 l | Deposit 3.30 | €3.30 | 1 | €3.30 |
| Single-use deposit | Deposit 0.25 | €0.25 | 4 | €1.00 |
| Deposit in total | €10.50 |
In the example, €3.10 is the crate at €1.50 plus 20 bottles at €0.08 each, and €3.30 is the crate at €1.50 plus 12 bottles at €0.15 each. You enter the amounts yourself.
The quantity counts products in the cart, not the bottles inside them. A crate is one product, so its deposit item covers the crate and the bottles together.
A tag on the product is enough, and a new drink counts without anyone editing the item. Variants inherit their parent product's tags unless they have their own.
The deposit is shown on the product page already, not only in the cart. The note uses the same tag as the quantity, so the amount always matches the drink.
What to watch out for: The rule needs the Item with tag condition. Without it the deposit item would be in every cart at least once, even without a drink carrying that deposit: the quantity only decides how often it is added, not whether.
With an item at a fixed amount, for instance €0.25, whose quantity is linked to the deposit products: per piece, through a tag that every bottle with this deposit carries. The rule checks with Item with tag whether one of them is in the cart. Six bottles make six times €0.25.
A crate is one product, so the item counts crates, not bottles. Its amount is the deposit for the crate and the bottles together, €3.10 for a crate with 20 bottles in the example. For every crate size with a different deposit, create an item of its own with a tag of its own.
Yes. Each amount is an item of its own with its own rule and tag. If returnable crates and single-use bottles are in the cart together, each deposit appears on its own line.
A six-pack is one product with one amount for all six bottles or cans, for instance €1.50 for six times €0.25. It gets the tag of that amount, and the item counts six-packs.
The tax rate you choose on the item. If you sell drinks with different tax rates, create one item per deposit amount and tax rate.
Yes. Each deposit item becomes a line of its own in the order, with quantity, unit price and tax rate, and so it also appears in the ZUGFeRD invoice.
No. Deposit items are not goods, so the subtotal of goods does not count them. A small order fee below €50.00 therefore depends on the drinks alone.
If product A, B or C is in the cart, the delivery goes to Austria or Switzerland and the customer is a retailer.
For deliveries to certain countries the shop pays part of the shipping costs.
A discount for payment in advance, a fee for cash on delivery: one item per payment method.
A surcharge per bulky product when delivery is by freight.
A real product from the catalogue that retailers get once, with their first order.
Once the goods total reaches €50.00, a catalogue product is added free of charge.
A magazine or a sample that the customer can see and remove.
In Advent, one gift wrap per product in the cart, which the customer can remove.
Below €50.00 of goods, €5.00 is added; from €50.00 the fee disappears on its own.
A deposit per bottle and per crate as lines of their own, the quantity follows the drinks in the cart.
If the delivery address is on an island, a surcharge is added, recognised by the postcode.
Percentage, fixed amount, free of charge or a product: the four types every example is built from.
